The Fundamentals of Sport and Movement is a course designed in-house by our Founder. The course is designed for SEN students who are in the early stages of their sporting achievements or are being introduced to sports for the first time. Although it is designed for mostly younger students it has also been effective for older students who have not had a chance to enjoy the benefits of sports yet.
The key principles of the class are:
- Introducing the students to ball skills and gross motor skills that others may take for granted (i.e the ability to read a moving ball, to manipulate a ball effectively, to position your body effectively).
- Introducing the students to the expectations of sports (i.e. following the rules, communicating effectively, teamwork and discipline)
- Developing an appreciation for hard work and rewards for a job well done.
We aim to achieve this by:
- Breaking movements and activities into easy to understand bite-sized pieces.
- Setting clear and achievable goals for the students and adjusting them to find a balance between fun and challenge.
- Developing clear positive feedback loops - creating an encouraging environment where students are rewarded for a job well done!
We take great pride in our tailor-made courses that are designed with our Learners in mind to ensure that no one is left out.
